Appearance and characteristics: Colorless or slightly yellow liquid, strong irritation, melting point -103.5℃, boiling point 59℃ (59.1℃), relative density (d20) 1.07, refractive index 1.39737 (1.3974). Decomposes in water and is soluble in ethanol, acetone, ethylbenzene, benzene and chloroform.
Uses: Active organic intermediate. Chloromethylating agent is mainly used to produce anion exchange resin, and is also used to produce medicines such as sulfadiazine.
